DESCRIPTION:Preparing and eating healthy\, delicious-tasting and looking meals can be expensive and intimidating. For those of us with disabling conditions and illnesses\, including diabetes\, it can be even more difficult.  \nWILC/PILS’s Food Insecurity Prevention Program (FIPP) along with our Diabetes Prevention Program are offering people with disabilities four live\, online cooking classes and $150.00 gift cards to purchase the ingredients and equipment to make them along with us!   \nOur first cooking class will be on Weds\, May 3\, 2021 from 12:30 – 2:30pm.  \nTo whet your appetite\, here’s what we’re cooking for our first meal and what we’re using to cook it:  \n\nVegan Lentil Barley Stew]\nRefined-Sugar-Free\, Gluten-free\, and Vegan Peanut Butter Brownies\nElectric pressure cooker such as an Instant Pot \n\nFor more information contact the organizer listed below. \nRegister for Deliciously Diabetes and Disability Friendly cooking by emailing  Jeff Zitofsky – click here.  \n Once you are registered we’ll be in touch and send you the FIPP Gift Card to purchase the list of ingredients and supplies that you don’t already have.

If you have prediabetes (your sugar is high) or believe you are at risk for diabetes you may be eligible for this free online program. Part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program we work with a CDC curriculum and a trained Lifestyle Coach. \n\nLifestyle coaches help participants reach the following goals: \nLose a minimum of 7% of starting weight \nIncrease physical activity to 150 minutes or more each week \n\nTo register or for more information visit www.putnamils.org/diabetes-prevention-program then fill out the eligibility questionnaire and registration. \n\nJoin us for the first session on February 1 and start a full year of support to help you prevent type 2. \nThe class will meet Mondays\, 5pm-6pm\, on Zoom. \n
